Тема: “Saint Valentine’s Day. Grammar: Present Continuous, Present Perfect, Present Perfect Continuous”

Цели урока:

1) Познакомить учащихся с историей праздника.

2) Ввести новую лексику по теме «День Святого Валентина».

3) Закрепить грамматические навыки по временам (Present Continuous, Present Perfect, Present Perfect Continuous).

4) Познакомить учащихся с православным праздником Святого Петра и Февронии.

Оборудование и материалы: меловая доска (+прикрепленные цветные сердечки с вопросами для учащихся по теме); интерактивная доска с презентацией по теме; раздаточный материал: карточки с упражнениями по грамматике.

План урока:

1. Организационный момент.

2. Краткий рассказ учителя о празднике, беседа с учащимися по теме.

3. Выполнение учащимися упражнения на отработку устной речи и развитие языковой догадки.

4. Краткий рассказ учителя о празднике Святого Петра и Февронии, беседа с учащимися по теме.

5. Выполнение учащимися упражнения на отработку лексики по теме «День Святого Валентина» и грамматики по теме “Present Perfect.”

6. Выполнение упражнения на отработку лексики по теме «День Святого Валентина» и грамматики по теме “Present Perfect, Present Perfect Continuous, Present Continuous

7. Подведение итогов урока, просмотр мультфильма, созданного учащимся класса.

8. Выставление оценок учащимся.

Ход урока:

I. Организационный момент, вступительное слово:

  • Учитель здоровается с учащимися:

Good morning, boys and girls! Good morning, our guests! Take your seats, please. I’m very glad to see you today.

  • Учитель задает наводящие вопросы о том, какое сегодня число и день:

First of all, pupils, I would like to ask you a question. What is the date today? (Right you are). And what is the holiday today, pupils? Do you know? Of course, today is Saint Valentine’s Day. I think that it’s one of the most beautiful, wonderful and romantic holidays in the world. And our lesson today will be rather unusual: all your exercises and tasks will be closely connected with St. Valentine’s Day.

Saint Valentine’s Day or just Valentine’s Day is a holiday celebrated on the 14th of February. It’s traditionally a day when lovers or sweethearts express their love to each other, congratulate each other, presenting flowers, sweets, chocolate, toys and of course special nice cards – “valentines”. People can create these cards themselves or just buy them.

  • Учитель задает ребятам вопрос, какие символы Дня Св.Валентина они знают:

I believe, pupils, that you know different symbols of this holiday quite well. What are they?

And now, boys and girls, it’s high time to do the first exercise. You see different heart-shaped pieces of paper on the table. You should take one of them, read the question and then answer it. Who wants to start?

Thank you for your answers, I like them very much. But do you know anything about another Orthodox holiday like Saint Valentine’s Day? Right you are. It’s the Day of Saint Peter and Saint Fevronia.

The Day of saint Peter and saint Fevronia or just the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness is celebrated in Russia on the 8th of July. People believe that Peter and Fevronia are the patrons of love, marriage and family. This day people usually go to church and ask for love and peace for their families. They don’t give any valentines to each other but they also speak about their love and can give other presents to each other.

V. Выполнение учащимися упражнения на отработку лексики по теме «День Святого Валентина» и грамматики по теме “Present Perfect”:

So, pupils, you see that there are several holidays when people can express their love. But now we are going to do the second exercise, your grammar task. You see a man who has just bought a lot of presents for his wife. You should write down possible presents for St. Valentine’s Day and then make up sentences using Present Perfect Tense. The first sentence is done for you. Who wants to start?
